
The Virtual Reality Centre hosted a live demonstration to highlight the applications of Virtual Reality and Meta Technologies during the HSUHK School of Decision Science (SDSC) 10th Anniversary Celebration Dinner and Decision Analytics Outstanding Award Presentation Ceremony 2025, held on 6 June 2025 at the Sheraton Hong Kong Hotel & Towers. The event welcomed over 200 guests, including alumni and industry partners. Among the distinguished attendees were the Hon Rock Chen Chung-nin, SBS, JP, a member of the HKSAR Legislative Council, and Dr the Hon Moses Cheng Mo-chi, Chairman of the Council of the Hang Seng University of Hong Kong.
During the showcase, Dr Eugene Wong, the Director of Virtual Reality Centre, introduced the Tiger Balm Garden VR project, which aims to reconstruct lost heritage through immersive technology. Guests enjoyed the showcase of real-time immersive exploration of the exterior of this Grade I historical site. The demonstration also featured a collaborative Metaverse system focused on figurine restoration, with live VR footage broadcasted from three head-mounted displays, allowing attendees to witness the interactive process.
Dr Wong took the opportunity to promote the ongoing Virtual Reality The “Ten Courts of Hell” of Tiger Balm Garden exhibition at Haw Par Mansion, which has been integrated into the official guided tour organised by the HKSAR Antiquities and Monuments Office.
