With the support of QESS from the Education Bureau, the Launching Ceremony of Cross-Institutional Metaverse Platform for Collaborative Learning on Logistics, Heritage, and Journalism was held on 20 September 2023. The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong has joined forces with HKU School of Professional and Continuing Education, Hong Kong Chu Hai College, and The University of Hong Kong to develop the collaborative immersive platform.

As the Metaverse platform recreates the work environment of the DHL Express Service Centre, simulates the warehouse operations of Kerry Logistics, reconstructs the lost heritage of the Tiger Balm Garden (Aw Boon Haw Gardens), and the disaster zone of an Earthquake, Professor Simon Ho Shun-man, the President of HSUHK, expressed his gratitude to DHL Express, Kerry Logistics, and the Aw Boon Haw Foundation for their invaluable support to the project.

During the event, nine representatives, Mr K.Y. Leung, Dr Daniel Mo, Mr Boris Chui, Mr Ken Kay, Dr Patrick Mok, Mr Hubert UN, Professor Ronald Chiu, Professor Trevor Siu, and Dr Clio Wu, from three disciplines discussed how this project could improve teaching and learning in work-based training programmes as well as universities and lifelong learning programmes.

A media showcase was arranged after the ceremony. Professor Desmond Hui, Professor Ronald Chiu, Dr Eugene Wong, alongside other experts, introduced the platform to the media at the Virtual Reality Centre. HSUHK student Ms Helen Ip (BBA in Supply Chain Management, Year 4), also shared her experience of using the platform.
