Delegation Visit to Shandong Vocational and Technical University

Upon Virtual Reality Centre (VRC) conducting a workshop for the Shandong Vocational and Technical University of International Studies (SWUT) earlier in June 2025, SWUT has invited VRC to conduct a further workshop again in the university in Shandong as well as explore deeper collaboration in teaching and research.

On 25 October 2025, a delegation consisting of Dr Eugene Wong, the Director of VRC, Dr Kev Ling and Dr Ran Wei were invited to visit SWUT. This visit facilitated substantive discussions focused on academic exchange cooperation, faculty exchange, and capacity building, as well as initiatives for advancing student degree programmes. Over 140 academic staff and students participated in the talk.

As part of the academic exchange activities, Dr Eugene Wong delivered a series of presentations on three pivotal themes: “Trends in Virtual Reality and the Metaverse for Research and Education,” “Integration Pathways for Virtual Reality (VR), Sustainability, Supply Chain Management, and Artificial Intelligence (AI),” and “Looking Ahead: The Academic Development Path for Supply Chain Management Programmes.” His insights highlighted innovation in teaching and research, propelled by advancements in digital technology.

Dr Kev Ling gave a presentation titled “AI Applications and Engineering Innovation Practices,” which provided an in-depth analysis of artificial intelligence applications and emerging trends in the field of engineering.

The delegation had the opportunity to tour several notable teaching and practical facilities, including the Faculty Development Centre, UAV Studio, and E-commerce Live Streaming Training Lab.

This fruitful exchange marked significant progress in talent cultivation, research collaboration, and resource sharing, deepening educational cooperation between Shandong and Hong Kong. Both institutions leveraged this occasion to jointly promote cooperative projects, renewed the development of educational initiatives across the region.
